Why I Love My Job: Conversations with a Toddler

I don't know that I've mentioned this before, but I am a nanny. I tend to not include stories from my day-to-day on here, because, frankly, these are not my children, and I try to be sensitive about what I share about other people's offspring.

This needs to be shared.

This is a perfect example of why I absolutely love my job.

Yesterday, we were walking up the street to the corner store. Tiny baby in arms and tiny friend walking next to me.

Me: (cracked some irrelevant joke)
Tiny Friend: Lindsay funny.
Me: No. You're funny!
TF: No. Lindsay funny.
Me: Naw. YOU! You're funny!
TF: No! (laughs) Lindsay funny!
Me: Well, I think you're funny...
TF: Lindsay best friend.

::Heart melted at this point::

Me: Really? I'm you're best friend?
TF: Yeah! Lindsay best friend!
Me: Who else is your best friend?
TF: Daddy best friend!
Me: Daddy's you're best friend too? Who else? Any other best friends?
TF: Mommy best friend!
Me: Mommy too? That's sweet! Who else is your best friend?
TF: [Jeremiah] best friend!
Me: Aw, that's sweet! Do you have any more best friends? What about sissy? Is sissy your best friend?
TF: No.... STREET! Street best friend!!
Me: The street? Where cars drive? The street is your best friend?
TF: Yeah! Street funny!
Me: You think the street is funny?
TF: Yeah!
Me: So.... if something is funny, then it gets to be your best friend?
TF: Yeah!

My Tiny Friend is hilarious. And she's easily one of my best friends too...
